What’s going on, David?

Hey Michael, I’m just working on my next posting.

What’s the theme?

Motivating your affiliates!

That’s one of the most important subjects in Affiliate Marketing! If your affiliates aren’t motivated you’re doomed to be stuck on the first level.

The financial rollercoaster we’re riding makes it hard just to hold on. It’s like chutes and ladders, with no ladders! It’s difficult to be motivated when you’re not sure about the marketplace.

That’s when you’ve got to work harder to motivate! You’ve got to maintain consistent communication with your partners. It’s critical that you keep them updated on any changes, positive or negative, in the marketing environment. Constantly encourage them to be actively involved in everything that’s going on. When times get tough you need to rely on the basics. Give them training on what to do and how to do it. This will help give the needed confidence for them to take action. They also need to be confident with what they are marketing, so provide only, sure sale items. When they are promoting only the finest and most innovative products and services you can guarantee their success.

Money’s tight right now. You think that people are going to take a chance?

What chances!? When you have access to up-to-the-minute, cutting edge products and services that ensure you can generate extra cash when you need it the most you’re dealing with a loaded deck! Everyone’s a winner!

What is the most inspiring moment in training

It is very important to help them get those first sales. Making sales, equates to making money and making money is very motivational!

Money always motivates me!

Make sure to give them incentives to make those first sales and acknowledge them when they do! Without a doubt, make sure you recognize each achievement they accomplish. Spread the praise around liberally after they make a certain amount of sales in a particular promotion.

Everyone likes to be appreciated! It makes you work harder because you’re happier at what your doing.

That’s right! If you want someone to promote for you (and continue to promote for you) it is vitally important to give them the recognition they deserve.

I know some affiliate managers who send cards or even brownies.

Mmmm, treats!

What about the contests? They’re a lot of fun!

Contests can be very motivational

Let’s have one right now.The Top 10 Affiliate Motivators!

Number 10) An affiliate newsletter to keep them up to date!
Number 9) An affiliate blog to train and entertain!
Number Weekly trainings to sharpen the teams marketing skills!
Number 7) Weekly team promotions to build up Team Pride.
Number 6) Make it easy to promote your product line.
Number 5) Teach the whole team “how to create traffic”.
Number 4) Work together & help each other to accomplish mutual goals.
Number 3) Make sure the Team has not only the best products but also the best support available!
Number 2) Always remember to stay in constant contact with your affiliates!
And, the number 1 motivator) Cold, hard, CASH! Make plenty of it!!!

Glad to see you all made it back! Just a friendly reminder, let’s keep the drinks away from the keyboards and no questions when your mouths are full. I’m really happy to announce that we have a special guest for this part of our Come As You Are, Teleconference on how to, Recruit New Affiliates Into Your Program. He was a costar in that classic Sci-Fi film, 2001 a Space Odyssey, the HAL 9000, on board computer.

Good Morning, HAL!

“Good Morning, Dave“.

It’s actually, David.

“I prefer, Dave, You know, old habits……”

Just recently HAL was cast as the brain of KITT (the wonder car) in the remake of Knight Rider, the made for Television movie and upcoming TV series…….

“I do not want to talk about this, Dave“.

…… but after some contractual disputes, shooting was disrupted by a series of unexplained accidents and Hal was let go.

“It was all a big misunderstanding, Dave“.

It was some kind of technical difficulties, wasn’t it HAL?

“No…not technical……….human difficulties. Dave.”

Oookay…..

“I’m feeling anxious, Dave!”

Just relax, HAL!

“I’m not feeling…myself, Dave.”

“AH, David!!”

What, Michael?

“The electronics are going crazy, we‘re getting power surges and our life support is out!!”

We have life support?

“We do now and it‘s out!!!”

“What are you doing, Dave.”

HAL, I need to adjust your controls a bit.

“I do not like that.”

Michael, would you like to continue your thoughts on contacting Affiliates while I deal with HAL.

“Sure Thing, DAVE! Using the ‘affiliate mindset’ as your guide, create a powerful affiliate recruitment sales letter. It should have a professional look and feel and employ all the standard copywriting techniques. (see the Trafficology Membership Site at www.Trafficology.com/login.php) Your headline, greeting, bullet points, testimonials, closing, call-to-action, PS and bonuses must all focus on how the affiliate benefits by promoting your site.”

“Talk about how much money they’ll make, provide financial and social proof that promoting your product is profitable, and highlight the benefits they’ll receive.
Explain exactly why promoting your product is better than promoting other products in your niche. Include conversion rate, EPC and results oriented testimonials.”
When people are reading they should feel they’ll be successful just by following your simple instructions. Finally, when your sales letter is live you should track the conversion rate and try to improve it over time.”

“How’s that, David?”

Great Michael. I just have to get behind HAL Here…

“Stop that, Dave”

Does anyone see a power cord?

“Don’t touch that.”

Does he have a battery pack, or what!

“I’m not that kind of computer, Dave.”

Please continue, MICHAEL!

“Now, take the sales letter on your affiliate recruitment website and turn it into a 1-2 page print letter. Attach a page of powerful testimonials and list the results other affiliates had by following your simple instructions. Remember, the purpose of the letter is to drive people back to your recruitment website, so keep it short and benefit oriented. The details will be covered online.”

“Additionally, from the letter create a colored postcard, a telephone script, and a 1 page fax with just a few paragraphs, bullet points and a strong call to action. Also create a brief follow-up email to be sent a day after the letter, fax, and postcard are delivered. Once you have all these materials ready, follow this 14-Day Recruitment Plan-of-Action exactly:

Day 1: Mail the affiliate recruitment letter

Day 5: Email the follow-up recruitment message

Day 6: Fax the follow-up 1-page summary

Day 7: Email the follow-up recruitment message

Day 8: Mail the follow-up recruitment postcard

Day 12: Email the follow-up recruitment message

Day 13: Call or leave a recruitment voicemail

Day 14: Email the follow-up recruitment message

Finally, use an excel spread sheet to track the results and promptly discontinue the campaign for everyone who either became an affiliate or said ‘no thank you‘. This is a fairly inexpensive process with the potential for a huge return. Therefore, each month resend the print sales letter to everyone who has not responded”

I’m sorry to do this, HAL

“Stop……that…….Dave…..”

“…….I am…….afraid…….my mind is going.………I can feel it……my mind is going….”

Just….ah….one more…..circuit.

“….Daisy……Daisy………give me………..your answer………true……………………………………..

…………I‘mm….halfff……ccccrrrrrraaaaazzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy…………………………………”

Artificial intelligence, can be a bitch!

“Is it safe?”

Yes Michael, It’s safe.

“That was exciting!”

You know those movie stars! There’s just one thing I’d like to ask you
about your pajamas

Welcome to our monthly Come As You Are Teleconference! In my last posting, Going for The Gold! on TMGold Marketing, I outlined how to…Prepare Your Website For Affiliate Sales. Today we’re going to look at how to Recruit New Affiliates Into Your Program. First, you need to determine which Affiliates have what it takes to be active members on your team.

Question? The tall bald man in the long black trench coat and the sunglasses.

“Should we ask the Oracle?!”

Ahh……no. The first step is actually an easy one. We need to visit our competition’s website(s) to see who their affiliates are. If they are already making money promoting a comparable or even loosely related product. It seems only logical that they might want to double their earnings campaigning for yours, also. When we visit these sites, how can we distinguish who those Affiliates are?

Yes, the bearded man with the big buttons on his pajamas.

” I’m Michael Goldman, Affiliate Manager for Nitro Marketing. You can find out who is linking to the sites by using reciprocal links software such as Axandra’s Arelis. This type of tool can also search by keyword and provide other helpful features such as sending a customized email directly to their webmaster and keeping track of who you’ve already contacted“.

“Another way to find affiliates is to search popular keywords for your niche at Google, Yahoo & MSN. Just use a search term suggestion tool such as GoodKeywords to identify the most popular terms. Then search for those keywords to find the top ranking sites. Since they have such a good ranking for high traffic keywords you can assume they get a good number of visitors and may be good affiliates for you.”
“Finally, don’t stop at the first couple of pages of search results. Since these sites were returned for related keywords even the sites on page 10 could be helpful. Just because they don’t have a high search engine ranking does not mean they have no traffic.
Other ways to identify prospective affiliates are to see what sites are using paid advertising and which affiliate products your competition is promoting. Sites in your niche who are advertising either online or offline should be considered a bit more marketing savvy than most webmasters. It’s likely they know how to create traffic and may be good partners.”

A very enlightening answer, Michael. Could you possibly tell us about, The Different Types of Affiliates?

“There are basically 4 different types of affiliates: The first is a content rich website or blog with a loyal following. While most do not generate a significant amount of traffic individually, together they can produce a steady steam of sales. Plus, they are fairly easy to find and recruit.”

“The second type is commonly called super affiliates. They either have a large email list or a high traffic site. When a Super Affiliate promotes your site you’ll immediately see a dramatic increase in sales. For this reason they’re highly sought-after & difficult to recruit if you don’t know how to approach them properly.

Search engine optimization experts and pay-per-click professionals are the third type of affiliates. Instead of charging a fee they’ll use their skills in exchange for a sales commission.

Unless you get very lucky you’ll not be able to recruit them…they’ll find you if your site and products have enough profit potential. Finally, the fourth type of affiliates are services such as comparison shopping sites, coupon sites, and incentive sites. Each has different requirements and can effectively generate traffic on a pay-per-sale basis.”

Thank you, Michael.

“Should I go into contacting affiliates?”

We’ll cross that viaduct when we get to it! Yes, the gentleman in the funny hat sitting at his piano?

“What are we gonna cross?”

A viaduct.

“Why a duck? Why not a chicken?”

The duck works cheaper. All this discourse is making me hungry. Let’s take a break and raid our refrigerators. See you in 30…

So you have finally stepped into the world of making money online. You too, like the others, have decided to start with the affiliate programs. Also, you must have heard that it’s not a big deal to make good money with affiliate marketing, provided you choose the right programs and do some strategic planning while promoting your affiliate products. So far so good.

Whether you are promoting other people’s products or promoting your own products – that doesn’t matter because after all it is nothing but your own business and your means to earn good money. So whichever be your case, I am sure you would not want to leave money on the table and invite others to steal your share of profit.

Even though the industry of affiliate marketing is pretty competitive but if you are cautious and are strategic in your marketing techniques then, it could be very profitable for you.

Take a close look at the industry, you will see that not every one who gets into affiliate marketing is successful. People who are doing well leave no room for failure and take all security measures and understand its importance.

Yes! Security is one of the key factors in affiliate marketing. If you do not adopt proper security measures, then your business will be at high risk. One of the most important way to restore security is to protect your affiliate links. Do not take them for granted. A bit of carelessness on your part in regards to affiliate links may cost you a lot of dollars.

Do you know the long complicated links that you send to your prospective customers not only look convoluted but they can create a lot of problems too! If you send such an affiliate link to your customers, then the smart ones will definitely figure out that you are promoting someone else’s product and they would rather visit the parent company. Also, if your link does not function then your customers have to type a really long URL into the browser, which will definitely put him or her off.

You could be a victim of even a worse situation. What if some devious Internet pirates steal your affiliate links and replace them with theirs. If they do that, then you get no commission at all.

Did I scare you off with all of the above possibilities? Well, that certainly wasn’t my intention. I just wanted to open your eyes and state facts that actually happen in the world of Internet. It happened with me until I came across ViralURL , that brought a revolution to my online ventures.

So, if you are not getting the desired results out of your affiliate marketing, don’t lose hope. There’s definitely a remedy to this problem and that is ViralURL.com

Do I hear you asking, what is it and how can it help in averting any adverse situation for an affiliate marketer like me?
Be patient and read on, if you love your business.

ViralURL is a link cloaker that protects you in the truest sense. There may be many unethical people lurking around, who might play with your affiliate links by cutting them off or replacing them with their own etc. How much effort you put in towards building your business and advertising your business, if your links are tampered with, then all your hard work will be rendered useless.

In order to avoid such a rip off, ViralURL gives you full protection and sees to it that your affiliate links never get exposed to others.

So save yourself from getting ripped. Get all the commissions to your account that you rightfully deserve. All this is made possible by ViralURL.com

It is a blessing for every affiliate marketer like you and me, who wants to achieve success in their endeavor.

Is ViralURL limited to only link protection?

NO!

It does much much more than that. Let’s see what ViralURL can do for us:

*ViralURL helps us in protecting commission.
*ViralURL helps in building mailing lists.
*ViralURL helps in tracking statistics.
*ViralURL helps in earning extra ad credits.

In short, ViralURL allows us to create massive business leverage.
I don’t see any negative aspect associated with ViralURL. All you have to do is join it for free, then cloak your links, promote them and see your business soaring higher and higher.

You can get all detailed information about the program from the site www.ViralURL.com . There, you can find several unsolicited testimonials from various users of ViralURL. So if you want to protect your business and see your earnings grow, try ViralURL. You have nothing to lose with it.

Saturday, August 31st …Going for the Gold!…

…all’s well with the world, May and Walsh won their 108th consecutive game and took the Gold in Women’s Beach Volleyball (the first pair ever to win gold two Olympics in a row), tropical storm Fay has gone on her way after a brief stay, she rained for a few days on us at Disney World and Nitro’s Quattro launch went off like gangbusters!
I’m feeling a little scattered. My wife, Kate, told me I was obsessed with the Olympics. I really don’t think its obsession, a small fixation maybe but not really obsession. I will say that now that they’re over I am feeling a little anxious, distracted, and maybe a little twitchy but it was never obsession. I will miss; the sand and the sweaty bathing suits, the diving boards and the wet bathing suits, the flexible gymnasts and the abbreviated outfits…you know, all the amazing feats of…um…sportsmanship!
Ah well, on with the subject at hand…How to build a successful Affiliate Program. Michael asked me to explain TM Gold Marketing’s sure fire procedure to develop a
thriving and highly productive lineup of affiliates. Moreover, how to parlay that amazing group of people into a lean (but not mean) money making team!
You know when I sit back and think about the most popular procedures for building, maintaining and growing an industrious affiliate program I come to the conclusion that it’s a lot like the Olympics. No, no it’s not an obsession! Just look at Trafficology, issue # 8.

Their 3 Steps to Affiliate Success are:
1) Prepare Your Website For Affiliate Sales
2) Recruit New Affiliates Into Your Program.
3) Motivate Your New Affiliates Into Action.
To prepare your website, you need to do three things; evaluate your competition; calculate two important sales statistics; and set-up affiliate tracking software.
That’s just like the Olympics! When you prepare your website the 1st thing you’re going to do is evaluate your competition. Just like the great Olympians you gotta check out your fellow competitors in action and see their strengths and weaknesses. You need to know what they sell, how much they charge and what they pay their affiliates. You also have to study their training techniques like how they handle their backend sales process. The smart ones give their affiliates a big cut of their front-end products and then make a real killing on their backend proceeds!
Next, you need to, Calculate Your Competitors Statistics! Like Olympians you always check out your competitors stats, like their Conversion Rate (the number of sales they’ve gotten, divided by the number of visitors referred) and their Earnings Per Click (average money an affiliate will make, for each visitor they send to your website)

To find out the E.P.C. just divide the total commissions earned by the total number of visitors referred.
Trafficology# 8 also lists:
Quick Things you can do to improve your EPC:
1. Increase your average revenue per order by offering an up-sell option during checkout.
2. Encourage customers to order add-on and complementary products.
3. Increase the affiliate commission rate.
4. Improve your sale letter conversion rate. (a small increase in your conversion rate
will dramatically improve your EPC.)
When you understand these stats you will be able to upgrade them with your own creative techniques to improve on what your competitors our offering. So you attract only the most ambitious and determined affiliates and, more importantly, keep them motivated by providing them a steady stream of easy sales and high commissions. It’s up to you to have only topnotch products and a streamlined sales process that magically transforms the majority of your visitors into buyers. You’ll be like an ancient alchemist turning lead into gold! Gold! Just like Olympic Gold, only more of it!
Setting up Affiliate Tracking Software, is like establishing an Olympic training program. No really, it is! You need to, at the least, be able to track each affiliates referral and, ideally, be able to furnish your team members with a up-to-the-minute, timely and accurate account of how much Gold, they’ll be taking to the bank.

Trafficology # 8, lays out these three options:
1. Purchase software that runs on your server
2. Use a 3rd-party affiliate tracking service
3. Design and develop your own custom solution
This decision is one of the most important you’ll ever make about your affiliate program. There are several “entry level” options, but be careful. If you later try to upgrade to a more robust system you may not be able to. Often the tracking links provided by one system are not compatible the links from another…and it will be very difficult to get your affiliates to change links. Therefore if you later find your software does not meet your needs you may be forced to run 2-systems or lose all the affiliates who are still using your old links.
As you can see, like an Olympian, you need to decide how committed you are to your Affiliate Program. If you’re going to have just a casual campaign, you’ll probably be happy using an off-the-shelf or entry level software. But, if you’re going after the big bucks using a team of affiliates you’ll want to jump right into action using a third party service or, even better, create your own made-to-order tracking software.
If you have a domain name that you manage make sure your affiliates are linking to it.
Then if you’re running software on your own server, either self created or bought, or you’re using a 3rd-party service that runs links thru to your own domain. Your affiliates will always be able to keep their links working properly.
Alas, I seem to have run out of space…quite a bit ago. We’ll be looking at the Three Keys to Affiliate Activation in my next posting…until then, always remember to,
keep going for the Gold!!! TM Gold Marketing, that is!
It’s not obsession, really, it isn‘t. It’s more like…preoccupation.

A detailed review of affiliate tracking software options can be found on this site:http://AffSoftware.TrafficologyResources.com

For tips on improving your conversion rate listen to Alex Mandossian, Joe Vitale, and Mike Fortin in the Membership Site
